This course will focus on:

  • Confirming and reporting on the current position of an organisation including the identification and reporting of any weaknesses or concerns.
  • The development and implementation of a strategic and tactical Action for improving the situation. 
  • Techniques for reviewing the IT strategy and aligning it with the business strategy.

What you will learn

 Analysing the Product Portfolio.

Allows you to analyse and understand the product or service portfolio of an organisation in relation to its competitors  and define strategies for product development that will increase competitiveness. 

It can help determine which products to promote, which products to leave alone (for now), and which products you need to withdraw or update.


Understanding the Market and Competitiveness.

Allows you to analyse and define the marketplace in which an organisation operates, identify positive and negative influences effecting competitiveness, determine potential actions that could be taken to improve the situation and support the development and implementation of a Strategic Business Plan.


Using an Organisational SWOT for Strategic Information Systems Planning.

Understand how a SWOT analysis is compiled and used to understand an organisation's strategic position and identify factors that shape the its overall ability to perform, compete, and achieve its goals. At this level, SWOT becomes a tool for enterprise‑wide decision‑making, long‑term planning, and strategic alignment and how it can be used to shape the information systems strategy to ensure it is aligned with the business strategy.


Application Portfolio Analysis

Understand how application portfolio analysis is used to review applications to determine business value, cost, technical health, and strategic fit and how it helps leaders decide which applications to invest in, modernise, consolidate, migrate, or retire.
